Cancer & Infusion Center
Under the supervision of a hematologist/oncologist, patients can receive infusions of chemotherapy and other outpatient medications at Ascension Borgess Allegan Hospital Cancer & Infusion Center. In addition, we can administer injections and transfusions of blood products. Eligible services are those that require administration by registered nurses in a hospital setting. Some insurance companies do require pre-authorization for these services.
Clinic hours are Mondays - Fridays from 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. Special arrangements are necessary for services which must be provided after hours and on weekends. Our Cancer Care & Infusion Center suite
features rockers, recliners, televisions, CD players and accommodation of
family schedules whenever possible.
Specially trained Registered Nurses administer cancer fighting medications. Since 1976, Ascension Borgess Allegan Hospital has offered skilled outpatient treatments for cancer patients. We offer not only treatment for cancer patients, but education to both the patient and their family.
Our nurses administer immune system medications, steroids, “bone hardeners,” iron, antibiotics, blood count stimulants and others, as ordered by a physician. These medications require either a shot or an IV.
Physician ordered transfusions of blood and blood products are provided on an outpatient basis.
Through our affiliation, patients requiring radiation therapy can be treated at WMCC’s main campus in Kalamazoo.
