Allegan General Hospital Foundation Offers Scholarships to Area High School Seniors


The Allegan General Hospital (AGH) Foundation announces the availability of scholarships for high school seniors pursuing a career in healthcare. Up to five awards may be given out in May to area seniors.

Applicants must be able to demonstrate a commitment to a career in healthcare and be in good standing at a high school in Allegan General Hospital’s primary or secondary service areas (Allegan, Bangor, Bloomingdale, Fennville, Gobles, Hamilton, Hopkins, Martin, Otsego, Plainwell, and Wayland).

“We are pleased to encourage graduating high school students through our scholarship programs as they prepare to pursue careers in healthcare,” said Jenifer Garcia, Executive Director of AGH Foundation. “The changes in the healthcare industry over the next few years will foster an accelerating need for talented physicians, nurses, technicians, therapists and other health professionals.”

Application forms and information are available on the Foundation’s website – Forms are also available from high school counselors or by calling the AGH Foundation at (269) 686-4234. To be considered, applications must be received by the Foundation office on or before Friday, April 21, 2017.

The scholarship fund is made up of the Schuyler Mellen Education Endowment Fund, Marie Hall Nursing Scholarship Fund, Debra Rae Daniels Memorial Scholarship Fund, Chester Oisten Scholarship Fund, Robert Hayes Family Scholarship Fund, and a general fund maintained by the AGH Foundation.
